It has been just over a year now since Joshua was forcibly
taken from his home in Arizona. He was flown to Florida where his mother, Aimee, signed
over custody of him to her mother. The Florida courts were told by Aimee
that she did not know where Jayson was or have any way to reach him to get his
permission for the custody. The events on January 7, 2004 have caused a
lot of tears, fears, frustration, anger and most of all determination. I am
determined to see "peanut" returned home to his daddy.
Showing a never faulting determination, Jayson, in the last year, has
not once stopped fighting for his son. With the help of family members and
MANY friends (close and Internet) we have been able to track Aimee to
Florida, obtain her mom's address and phone number, learn of the Florida
custody case, obtain Aimee's Florida address and so much more. Up to this
point Jayson has represented himself, (pro se). But due to a court hearing
on January 7, 2005 where jurisdiction over Joshua was given to Florida,
Jayson now finds it necessary to hire a lawyer. This is a necessary action
even though Arizona awarded Jayson temporary sole custody of Joshua on
December, 9, 2004.
After several hundred e-mail inquiries and telephone interviews, we have
been horrified to learn the going retainer for a family law attorney is
$5,000.00 with an average hourly fee in the neighborhood of $200.00. As
there is NO WAY that Jayson could afford these fees, we find ourselves
turning to "you" for help. Jayson approached legal aide in Florida for
assistance only to be told that since he is not a resident of that state,
there is nothing they can do for him and Arizona said that since the case is
not in their jurisdiction, there is nothing they can do for him.
As Joshy's ~Oma~, I am asking you to make a donation to help us reach these fees. I realize what I am asking may be seen by some
people as rude or just outright wrong but I have to do this. I see the pain each
and every day in my son's face. The pain of a father that has not seen his
son in over a year and has only been allowed to speak to him on several
occasions during that time. Joshy loves his daddy and his daddy loves and
misses him.
Please help us bring Joshy home. I am not asking for a large donation
(although they are more than welcomed), but rather I am asking for a
donation of whatever amount you can afford. If that amount is just $1.00,
well that gets us $1.00 closer to our goal. If you are not financially able
to donate, I ask that you keep Jayson and Joshy in your prayers. Please know
we greatly appreciate anything you are able to do.
I am not one to ask for handouts, and Jayson has tried to do this on his
own for so long now but if something in not done very quickly it may be too
late. Jayson just wants to be a DAD to Josh.
